Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to begin their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in House Halovar could assist the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Questers and Planners tables.
Audiences can expect finding out which adventurers will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
